Chess Mastery Trainer bundles the Stockfish chess engine (GPLv3) as a separate program; source at stockfishchess.org. The optional human-style opponent runs Maia-3 (CSSLab, AGPL-3.0), a PyTorch neural network whose checkpoint is downloaded on request from Hugging Face, not bundled with the app. Its complete source, including the small wrapper file that makes it an AGPL-3.0 derivative work, is available at the link above. Earlier builds instead ran the original Maia network weights (GPLv3) through Leela Chess Zero, also as a separate program; that path remains bundled alongside Maia-3 for now. Puzzles come from the open Lichess puzzle database. Chess Mastery Trainer is not affiliated with Lichess, Chess.com, Stockfish, Hugging Face or the Maia project.
