Who this is
Chess Mastery Trainer is made and sold by StratumCode ("we", "us"), based in the Philippines. This covers chessmasterytrainer.com and the Chess Mastery Trainer desktop app. Questions, or to ask about data we hold on you, go to sales@chessmasterytrainer.com.
The app itself: nothing sent back to us
The desktop app runs entirely on your own machine. There's no account, no sign-in, and the app never phones home -- not to check your trial, not to check a licence key, not for anything else. Your games, your stats, your settings all stay in a local database on your own computer. We have no way of seeing how, or whether, you use the app, and we don't try to.
Buying a licence key
Paying for the app happens entirely on PayPal's own checkout page -- your card number or PayPal account details never reach us at all; PayPal handles and stores them under PayPal's own privacy policy. What we do get, from PayPal, after a successful payment: the email address you paid with, and the amount and date of the order. We use that email to send your receipt and licence key, and to look your order up again if you lose it (the "get my licence key again" page). We keep a record of completed orders indefinitely, as a normal business record and to support the no-account "look it up by email" flow -- there's nothing else it's used for.
The waitlist and beta sign-up forms
If you've signed up to be notified or to beta test, we hold the email address you gave us, and use it only to email you about Chess Mastery Trainer. Nothing else is collected by those forms.
Email delivery
Receipts, licence keys, and any email we send you are delivered through Postmark, our email provider, which processes the message and your email address on our behalf solely to deliver it.
Website analytics
This website uses Google Analytics to understand how it's used -- pages visited, roughly where visitors come from, that kind of thing. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to do this. We don't use it to identify you individually, and we don't combine it with your email address or order history. See Google's own privacy policy for how Google itself handles that data.
Who we share data with
Only the services already named above, each only for the job they do for us: PayPal (payment processing), Postmark (sending email), and Google Analytics (site analytics). We don't sell or rent your information to anyone, and we don't share it with any other third party.
Your rights
Wherever you are, you can email sales@chessmasterytrainer.com to ask what we hold under your email address, or to ask us to delete it. We'll delete what we can -- the only thing we'd normally keep regardless is a minimal record of a completed sale, where we have a legitimate reason to (accounting, tax, or a genuine dispute). If you're in the EU/UK or California, this covers the rights you'd have under GDPR or the CCPA; we don't currently have an automated process for this, so a request by email is handled by hand.
Children
This site and app aren't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time; the date at the top of this page always shows the version currently in effect.
